Is Your Partner Pregnant?

You are not alone in this situation. The two of you can get through this. We are here for her, and for you. It’s so important to provide her with the support she needs—emotionally and physically. Here are some tips on how you do this.

Find Support for Yourself

Men need support too with an unplanned pregnancy. It’s important that as you process this unexpected event, you talk through your emotions and questions with someone you trust. This could be a friend, mentor, or one of our client advocates at Brazos Pregnancy Center.

Talk in a safe space about your own challenges, concerns, and learn how to best support your partner. Reaching out for support is one of the bravest steps you can take. You are not alone.

How to Support Your Partner

After finding support for yourself, do your best to support your partner right now as she navigates this challenging time. Here are some tips:

  • Talk with her and listen to her. Keep the lines of communication open between the two of you at all times.
  • Talk with the people who care. In addition to keeping the lines of communication open between the two of you, it’s important to discuss the situation with parents and others who’ll be directly affected. Keeping this a secret will only add to the stress – yours and hers.
  • Educate yourself. Collect information and seek advice from people you trust.
  • Be honest with her and yourself. Own how you feel and don’t be afraid to share.  You’ll be surprised at how much it will help her to know that you have similar concerns.

Fatherhood Classes

Our fatherhood classes can be attending in a group or one-on-one setting with a father mentor who focuses on the vital role men play in their child’s development. Topics include leadership, discipline, time management, and financial concerns associated with parenting.

STI Testing

At Brazos Pregnancy Center, we offer free and confidential STI testing, counseling and treatment. We will start with an initial health screening questionnaire and then take  a blood and/or urine sample. Our nursing team will meet with you and explain your testing and treatment options.

At this time our STI testing and treatment is limited to women and men of childbearing age. We do not offer physical exams or treatment for other health concerns but are happy to provide referrals for these services to local resources.
